Greetings,

Welcome to our updated State of the Workforce Report for the East Cascades Workforce Area. Our scenic region encompasses ten (10) counties on the east slope of the Cascades Mountain range spanning nearly 30,000 square miles and boasting frontier, rural and urban areas.

Further, several tribal nations are rooted in this area including the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Klamath Tribes and Celilo Wy’am. East Cascades Works’ mission is to align and maximize investments in the career and training goals of individuals and employers to foster homegrown talent and fuel a thriving economy. Our industry-led board of directors and our staff focus on being neutral conveners, partnering with a diverse group of employers, labor, community-based organizations, education organizations and economic development entities to scale equitable workforce solutions. We are committed to being innovative problem solvers, are rigorous stewards of public funds and are best practice, results-driven change agents.

The purpose of this report is to provide a snapshot-in-time set of data that illustrates the backdrop of our vast region in which we do our collective work. We hope that you will enjoy learning about our communities, what drives our subregional economies and some challenges we collectively face.

We look forward to continuing to partner to address the talent needs of employers and supporting job seekers and youth to career success. A healthy economy supported by talented people creates a wonderful place to live and thrive.

Sincerely,
Heather Ficht
